As a general rule, the Archives does not lend unique, original source materials from its collection for any purpose, except as permitted by donor instructions made at the time of the gift.
Organizations may submit a written request for an exemption from this policy directed to the Town Archives Committee when there is a demonstrated need for original material, and when its security can be guaranteed. This security includes protection from light, climate, fire, theft, and vandalism, among other hazards. The Town Archives Committee may deny any loan request without cause.
Facsimiles of original documents may be provided for special exhibits or educational purposes. Widely available or duplicate materials may also be lent at the discretion of the Archives staff.
